Reading

• Unit 4 "Fossils"
• Here is the list of stories your child will be reading in class:
  "Fossils Tell of Long Ago", "The Dinosaur Who Lived in my Backyard", "Dinosaur Fossils", "Monster Tracks", "Let's Go Dinosaur Tracking", and "Why Did the Dinosaurs Disappear"
• Story Comprehension Assessments are taken every Friday
• Walk to Read groups began February 19

Math

• Finishing Unit 7 "Graphing"

• Will begin Unit 9 "Subtraction" after Unit 7 (we skip Unit 8)

Writing

• Expository Writing (informational writing) is our main focus.

• Complete sentences, punctuation, capitalizing, and transitions are additional writing skills we practice throughout the year.

• Narrative Writing (story writing) will begin after spring break.

• End of 2nd Trimester writing prompt will be Expository.

Science

• Finishing "Soils" unit this month
• Students have learned about three types of soil: clay, humus, and sand. Click here to see our science journal.
• Coming up..... "Butterflies"

	Bring in items for our Class Basket that will be auctioned off at the Spring Raffle on March 18.
	Parent/Teacher Conferences - March 25 & 26, 2010
	Please remember that only water is allowed in student water bottles.
	Miss Evenhus' Walk to Read students need to return the "Photograph/Video Permission Form".
