Reading

  • In Unit 2, students will be learning about the economy through our stories in our Unit called "Kindness".
  • Students will be working in groups throughout the school year. New groups will be established for each Unit.
  • Students will also be in a different group during their Workshop time. At this time, students work independently and small group with the teacher on leveled reading skills.
  • In January, students will be tested on all 200 words learned throughout the year. Some students will be tested on the 3rd 100 sight words.

Math

Writing

  • During the first few months of school, students worked on sentence structure, learning the steps to writing a narrative paragraph, and producing friendly letters.

  • Expository Writing is our main focus starting in December. We will be learning how to write a complete paragraph that includes a topic sentence, 3 key ideas, 3 details, and a closing sentence.

  • Punctuation, capitalizing, and transitions are additional writing skills we practice throughout the year.

  • Students will have continued practice with their writing skills when writing in their science journals.
