Anticipatory
Set:
o
Teacher wears a noodle-made necklace.
o
Teacher pours noodles into plastic
containers.
Instruction and
Modeling:
o
Teacher will tell the students that
they are going to correct sentences using the noodles.
(Instructing)
o
Teacher displays two sentences on the
overhead. The punctuation marks are missing. (Instructing)
o
Teacher shows the students how to use
the noodles in the sentence. (Modeling)
o
Teacher tells the students that they
need to place the noodles where they believe the punctuation
marks are missing. (Instruction)
o
Teacher asks students to help her with
the second sentence on the overhead. (Instructing)
o
Teacher follows the student’s
directions and places the noodle(s) where they described.
(Instructing)
o
Teacher continues to ask students for
help with three more sentences. (Instructing)
o
Teacher helps explain why the noodle
goes in that spot and not somewhere else. (Instructing)

Students are asked to explain why they
chose that spot for the noodle. (Instructing)

Teacher shows additional spots that a
noodle/punctuation can go that the students did not pick up on.

Closing
Set:

Teacher asks the students what they
learned today.

need to do with the noodles.

If there are additional questions,
then teacher will answer them.
Follow Up
Independent Activity:
o
Teacher will hand out noodles and glue
to each.
o
Teacher will hand out two worksheets
for the students to practice on.
o
Students will glue their noodles on
the worksheets where the punctuations are to suppose to be.
o
After the students are done with the
worksheet, then they write two sentences and use the noodles to
show their punctuation marks.
